What We Should Wear Hijab

The hijab, commonly known as "the veil" or headcover, is a custom that is rooted in modesty as stated by the Quran for both genders. While the main purpose of the hijab is to show modesty, it has also been used to represent different political and social ideas in the past, and sometimes serves as a symbol of personal or class distinctions.

Guidelines for modest clothing for women and men can be interpreted in various ways. Muslim women's clothing creates stereotypes about gender and norms that are still prevalent within Western society. Islamic guidelines seek to permit women to be able to fully participate in society and to express their beliefs without fear of being harassed.

Certain Muslim women are permitted to wear a full body covering, including an eye veil; some wear only hair coverings, while others choose not to cover their hair in any way. In the same way, Muslim men may adopt traditional clothing that includes beards, long-length clothing and head covers for religious reasons, while some may not adhere to this custom as strictly.

Females in Islam

Most stereotypes perpetuate the notion that Muslim women are secluded, denied fundamental rights or forced to wear the veil. But many of the discriminatory practices that are faced by Muslim women around the world originate from the culture of their communities instead of religious beliefs. Similar policies of oppression have been a problem for women from different backgrounds and continue to be prevalent today.

The thing that is often not reported through the press is the fact that Islam has long been a champion of women's rights. Women were given an opportunity to purchase property, select their spouses, take part in public office, and seek education. These rights were acknowledged by Islam prior to when they were recognized within the West. Islam encourages equality for women and men and bans practices such as infanticide among women and treating women as property within 7th-century Arab society.

Through time, Muslim women have held important positions in education and healthcare, as soldiers, and even as political leaders. Many countries with a Muslim majority have elected women to top management positions as well as female heads of state - an accomplishment that is yet to be fully realised within the United States.
